FIREWEEK
THE SAGITTARIUS LUNAR CYCLE
Monday December 2
The New Moon opens a new lunar month at 4:22 pm PT/10°59 Sagittarius (7:22 pm ET), activating our idealism with contacts
to Neptune and Uranus beforehand. Sagittarius represents, on the level of the first octave, the period between Conception
and 7 weeks, the first Lunar month after the sperm reaches the egg, and is a compacted pattern at a molecular time scale
of the entire life of the cellular body. The embryo develops in parallel with the earlier phases of evolution, retaining
memory of these structures in the brain. On the level of the fourth octave (see Chapter 9 of the Metaversal Lightcraft
Training Manual for more on the Four Octaves), Sagittarius represents Initiation beyond the realms of Death (Scorpio).
On the World scale, Sag occupies the period between AD 1500 and AD 1750, The Renaissance. This was the time when astrology, mathematics, musick and geometry were understood as divine techniques for communicating with the Soul of the World. With the Moon in Sagittarius we are into philosophical speculation, adventure, and foreign influences, and actions that expand the awareness through gathering unfamiliar experiences. It’s time to start filling a new empty place in our life. This New Moon has only one contact stored in its potential, the Moon’s square to Mars; the Sun makes no further connections to any planet save a quincunx to Jupiter on December 10. This opens us to rely on the benefits of Jupiter’s reception of anything in
Sagittarius. With Jupiter in its most joyous position in Cancer, this can be a powerful blessing as the month unfolds.
Events this month will be based on known factors and situations rather than new ones that have yet to occur.
Sagittarius is a sign of hope. The Archer's arrow aims toward a better tomorrow where our highest aspirations can be
realized. This New Moon reminds us of these optimistic instincts and the ever-present potential for learning and growth.
Surprising insights and philosophical breakthroughs are potential plusses with inventive Uranus' harmonious trine to
this Sun-Moon conjunction. We may be freed from the limits of old beliefs as we blaze a path toward exciting new ones.
Expressing the truths we discover while respecting the ideas of others is key to avoiding the intolerance that comes when
we think that we have all the answers. In the chart cast for Washington DC, the focs is on foreign relations and the
balance of economies. The next sequester deadline looms in January, underscoring the uncertainty factor in
US domestic politics. After October’s showdown, it’s unclear what the minority party will do to protect its interests,
but drama is certain to be involved. The Sabian Symbol for both Sun and Moon at 11 Sagittarius is, “In the left section of an archaic temple, a lamp burns in a container shaped like a human body.” We carry the light of the spirit within us, already lit and ready for our acknowledgment. There is the potential for all beings to recognize their divine source in some way and to act on it during this cycle.
Tuesday December 3
The Day of Mars in Fireweek. Mars hasn't always been a god of War. More powerfully cool to blast ejacaulations of dragonbreath fireballs at the mainstream media charade, to shoot fireworks out the buisness ends of elf flamethrows at the fleeing asses of neo-conservative goons. Our failure or unwillingness to alter our ways, our inability or refusal to change the direction of this nation and the continued indifference or complicity to the plight of billions has unmasked us all. The Moon in Sagittarius asks us to seek new answers to the struggle between listening to our inner intuition and the need to be part of the larger culture. Spiritual expansion assists the process of understanding. Explore new horizons, take a look at the big picture, seek spiritual and philosophical explanations; then tactfully, perhaps even humorously, use your renewed optimism to encourage others. And then, for the umpteenth time in the history of the world, we discover a beautious garden and let it unfold into its new season, to copulate delicately amongst a squadron of tiny black badgers down at the grain elevators. This is a good metaphor for wolf-children adopted by the mayor who have the key to the city but we've already picked the lock so we sell it to a posse of renegade urban planners experimenting with the geomantic cultivation of organic concrete.
Wednesday December 4
The Day of Mercury in the kabbalistic World of Fire, Atziluth. Visualize your self wearing sneakers with wings as you read this. Mercury's function is to think. To know. To reason. There is no foot race to win here. Language is his playground. The Akasic Library is his home. And oh yes, Hermes is a Love god. He likes the sound of his own voice. Write a poem, a sonnet, or some erotica today and them transmit that information to at least one other person. Cerebral Mercury, the master of data and details, is less concerned with practical matters during its three-week transit in big-thinking Sagittarius. This farsighted point of view is useful for spurring intuition, inspiration and recognizing lofty principles, but can make us less effective at dealing with facts. Aspirations may blossom in this high-minded environment, yet a failure to ground them in reality is a possible risk..The Moon enters Capricorn just before sunrise. Capricorn represents, on the level of the first octave, the period between 7 weeks until 12 weeks after Conception, when the embryo becomes a fetus, and the sex and physical appearance are determined. The body takes form through it's skeletal system. On the level of the fourth octave (see Chapter 9 of the Metaversal Lightcraft Training Manual for more on the Four Octaves), Capricorn represents the integration and structuring of the higher perceptions of the Self in the World on a practical level. On the World scale, Capricorn occupies the period between AD 1750 and AD 1840. This was the time when the ideology of Sagittarius was translated into material form. Humanity evinced a superiority over the forces of nature, and the Industrial revolution began. Romanticism surrounded the likes of
Shelly, Goethe, Byron, and Chopin, reacting to the cold prevailing mechanistic World view. Rudolph Steiner said
that the human being is created, and destined to be, a self-defining creature. Are we slightly higher than monkeys
or slightly lower than angels? Good old fashion hard work yields the answer. Monkeys and Angels are set to grind
corn with the Sun in Capricorn. Tackle those long term projects and remember, the Mountain must be tackled one step
at a time.
